On the 16th of October 2024, Huzhou University Library 左尧 held a reading special event 诵读赞华诞 书香满校园红色经典诵读会. The main aim of the event was to promote Mandarin and a better understanding of Chinese culture and civilisation. The theme of the event was 庆祝中华人民共和国成立75周年 in the competition have been selected works of classic Chinese writers and poets. This year, for the first time, international students were invited to perform together with Chinese students. After a rigorous selection process by a special jury from the university library, three international students took part in the competition. Another group of ten international students interested in Chinese language were also invited to participate in the some language games such as pinyin, drama, spelling and so on. The jury consisted of professors from the College of Humanities, the Party Secretary of the University Library, library leaders and teachers from our university. Our students' performance made a great impression on the jury and the audience, and was accompanied by applause and cheers. Their performance was a great success and as a result all our students received diplomas and awards. 龚明仙(Cambodia) second prize, 蓝天(Russia) third prize and 莎何(Russia) encouragement prize. The highly organized and thematically structured the event showed great interest among international students, motivating them to thoroughly deepen their Chinese language in order to gain in-depth knowledge and understanding of Chinese culture, history and civilisation.
