December 6th, on the occasion of the International Women’s Day, theConfucius Institute of Azerbaijan Language University held an academic seminar on the women who are in the field of science and education. Huraman Aliyeva, the professor of oriental Studies Institution of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, and Nalmin Mamedova, the professor of the institute, attended the seminar.

At first, Professor Rafik Abbasov, the dean of Confucius Institute, extended a festival greeting for the women present. He said that the equality of science and gender is vital for ensuring the social sustainable development. Modern women took part in the development of Azerbaijan’s Education, science and innovation actively. Professor Abbaspov also reviewed Gelda Aliyev's law of the women politics conducted in Republic of Azerbaijan, and emphasized the report by Azerbaijan National Women's Committee on the 6th World Conference on Women in Beijing.

Huraman Aliyeva shareda life story and academic activities of Aida Imanguliyeva, the famous female representative of Azerbaijan. Aida Imanguliyeva was the first doctor of women science in the field of oriental studies in Azerbaijan,which is the epitome of the Azerbaijan's great female's image. And Namin·Mamedova mentioned the great contributions of Chinese women to the development of science in China and the world.

Xiaozhen Chen, the teacher of Confucius Institute, discussed the issue of the transformation of the social status of women in China. From the beginning of the patriarchal society to the end of the long feudal society,women had always been at the bottom of society in ancient China. Traditional feudal ethical etiquette and morality required women to bind feet and obey the "The three obedience and four virtues". Besides, women's words and deeds were limited by "Seven sins". Since the establishment of People's Republic of China, the status of women has been significantly improved.
