Chinese have the custom of making a sachet in the Dragon Boat Festival. Sachet, also called 'rongxiu', is commonly known as "sachet", which is a pouch withspice, and mostly sewed withbrightly coloured silk fabric of great variety and loveliness. Young men and women often wear it in front of the chest, at waist level or in umbilical region as decoration;and take its aroma with the function of fragrance, driving away insects, avoiding plague, disease prevention. They are also on the curtainor the chariot.

The materials to make a sachet：
mint, tangerine peel, angelica cloves, sage and spikenard.
Sachet can dispel wind-cold, regulate qi to alleviate pain, thirl the nine orifices etc. It's smell is pure and persistent with the function of warding evil and avoiding illness.
The procedures to make a sachet
The sachet looks easy to make, but actually it's not easy to make. The main process consists of five steps: cut cloth， print， fill with medicinal materials， sew and stitch a tassel of which sewing is the most difficult depending on needlework.
First of all, choose the cloth you like and then cut the shape. Secondly，stitch medicinal materials onto a sachet with round cloth. Then，stitch three sides of the opposite of the square cloth.
Thirdly, turn inside out and fill with space cotton and sachet.Fourthly, sew the cloth filled with the filler transversely. Fifthly, sew the last side, stitch guy wires and tassels with many colors: red, green, cyan, blue and purple. At last, embellish the sachet with some silver pearl slices.

Today, it was a great pleasure for me to have this opportunity to join in making-sachets activity. l knew that making sachets was a custom in the Dragon Boat Festival. I didn't expect that I could use the needlework, a skill my mother teaching me. Sachets not only had a cute figure, but possessed fragrant herbal medicines.
Since I went to China one year ago, my Chinese has been better, and what I experienced let me feel fancy and mysterious. I want to make friends with more Chinese so that I can know and learn more about Chinese culture.

Today I knew many patient and friendly Chinese friends, who taught me to make sachets. I tried to make one. Though it wasn't good-looking, I loved it very much. This was the first time for me to notice such novel things that I thought it had Chinese characteristic and was cute.
