The University Solemnly Held Huzhou University International Students Welcome Ceremony 2016 and Zhejiang Provincial Government Scholarship Award Ceremony

On the afternoon of November 16， the university solemnly held Huzhou University International StudentsWelcome Ceremony 2016 and Zhejiang Provincial Government Scholarship Award Ceremony. Hulin Sun, director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Huzhou, Yongsheng Zhang, director of International Exchange of Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Huzhou and Liqin Zhang,the president of HuzhouUniversity attended the ceremony. Besides, over 400 people in total attended the ceremony including these relevant departments, President's Office, Academic Affairs Department, Plan and Finance Department, Security Department, Rearservice Management and Property Department, Students Affairs Department，Foreign Affairs Office, International College, Business School, Social Development and Management College, Sport College, College of Liberal Arts， the School of Art, Engineering College, College of Information Engineering and Foreign Language College, 213 new international students of 2016 from 31 countries， and the representatives of students who was honored to award the scholarship of Zhejiang Provincial Government， the representatives of teachers， the representatives of degree international students and so on.

Liqin Zhang extended a warm welcome to international students who came from the area along “the Belt and Road” in his speech and at the same time, he congratulated to the students who won the Zhejiang Provincial Government Scholarship. He noted that our university is rooted in the profound cultural heritage of HuzhouCity, with a long history of the education of international students, excellent teaching environment and experienced teachers, which is an ideal place to study in China. In particular, unveiling of Confucius Institute formally, jointly built by our university and Azerbaijan Language University made a new breakthrough of Chinese international promotion and educational exchange along “the Belt and Road” in Zhejiang Province this year. Zhang proposed three hopes for international students: the first hope is Social Commitment, being a “gentleman”; the second one is Self-discipline, being a man with goals and the last one is to practise what you preach, being a man with a sense of social responsibility. Meanwhile, he also hoped that the students winning Scholarship can make persistent efforts, spur themselves constantly, improve themselves and become the role models of those new students leading everyone to realize their dreams in Huzhou, the elegant land of South, and also adding one beautiful touch for your life in a great plan of “the Belt and Road”.

Relevant persons taking in charge of International College and Engineering College and teachers’ representatives hoped the International students can make full use of school teaching resources, try to learn Chinese and professional knowledge well, actively experience the Chinese culture, obey the school regulations and achieve something, so as to be an envoy of Sino-foreign cooperation and exchange in future.

Saho Aa J, the new students’ representative from Russia, said that the opening ceremony stands for a new start to learn professional knowledge and she will carry out a new study and life, cherish the time, and get the best growth and an opportunity to show herself in HuzhouUniversity.

After the opening ceremony, the leaders of our University awarded the prize for these excellent international students who won “The Scholarship of International Students of Zhejiang Provincial Government”. It is reported that this special scholarship was founded by Zhejiang Provincial Government, for attracting and encouraging international students to come to ZhejiangProvince to study. Our university had total 7 international students who respectively won the Level B Scholarship and the Level C Scholarship this year.

Yifan Wang, from Bangladesh, is a sophomore of BusinessSchool and one of International students who obtained the Level B Scholarship. He said HuzhouUniversity is a big and warm family and makes him feel rejoiced studying here. Over the following years in our university he will make an extra effort and become the example of freshmen and win for his own wonderful life.

It's reported that the international students studying and exchanging in our university had over 400 this year, of which degree students accounted for more than 70% exceeding the scale of the language preppies for the first time. Three colleges opened classes for degree students taught entirely in English, and 8 colleges received the degree students taught in Chinese. Under the joint effort of the whole university, international education work in our university ran smoothly, international majors developed progressively and the education for the international students is coming to mature with steady steps.

The 2016 Huzhou University International Students Opening Ceremony and Zhejiang Provincial Government Scholarship Award Ceremony held smoothly, which marked the level of our university’s international education step onto a new stage. It also started the era prelude of comprehensively responding to the national strategy of "The Belt and Road" and creating a brand of " Study in Huzhou". And it is meaningful to build a regional comprehensive university which has status in Zhejiang province and has impact in China as soon as possible.
