In the afternoon of April 19th,a six-person delegation of region committee in Kalmar, Sweden and Linnaeus University came to our university for a visit and had a discussion on educational cooperation. President of Huzhou University Liqin Zhang，Deputy director of Municipal Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office Yuwen Pan and Director of International Communication Depart of Huzhou city Yongsheng Zhang, attended the discussion. The others who participated in the discussion were related staff of Foreign Affairs Office/International College, College of Foreign Language and College of Biological Science.
President Zhang extended his warmest welcome to the delegation and gave an introduction specially of the typical local culture in Huzhou city，as well as the college setting，the academic development， talents training projects and international communication of our university.As he said, there had been a firm cooperative foundation and wide cooperative space between Karmal region , Linnaeus University and Huzhou University, and it was a golden opportunity for us to deepen communication with each other by implementing all the projects between two parties. The visit also had profound significance on developing friendship and building a sustainable partnership of the two parties.
The vice-chairman of Karmal region Ragnar Olson expressed his appreciation for the hospitality they received. He said that international communication needed a perspective of combining multiple cultures, and with perfect academic setting and unique campus culture, Huzhou University would be bound to play an important role in process of comprehensive cooperation with Huzhou city, especially in the field of facilitating advanced education cooperation between China and Sweden. Representatives of Linnaeus University also gave a primary introduction of their university and summer camp project, who urged to carry out substantive cooperation projects with Huzhou University in the terms of staff exchange, students exchange and multidisciplinary collaborations.
Linnaeus University, being one of the best comprehensive educational institutes in Sweden, is located in south of Sweden which was named after the world-famous scientist Carl Linnaeus. It has 35,000 full-time students, whose educational tradition has been inherited from age to age. Now the university has built a close connection with local enterprises, which made it an important member in development of the city as a whole. The world-famous enterprise IKEA invests 2,700 million RMB every year for supporting research and education of Linnaeus University, making an effective cooperation mode binding industry, education and research together.
The delegation of region committee of Karmal carried their first visit to our university in March, 2014, which left a deep impression of the historical atmosphere and distinct educational characteristic of our university on them. A consensus in academic research and staff and students exchange had also been reached then, as well as a beginning of a good friendship. In October of 2015, the delegation of Huzhou University led by President Zhang also visited Linnaeus University and had a profound discussion in research base development, labs construction, staff and students exchange. Therefore, the visit of Sweden delegation this time has deepened the cooperation between Huzhou University and the universities in Sweden, and has profound meanings for implementing other international projects.
