Huzhou University grandly held the second opening ceremony for international students on the afternoon of November, 25th. The president of Huzhou University Zhang Liqin, leaders from Office of Foreign Affairs, Office of Strategy Planning and Financing, Department of Rear-Service Management and Property, Logistic Services, International College and Business College, the faculty representatives and 96 international students of 2015 attended this ceremony.
President Zhang started this ceremony with an introduction of the Belt and Road Initiative strategy. He extended a warm welcome to all the international students who have grown in the Silk Road Culture. President Zhang pointed out that Huzhou University has been carried out a long history of educating international students. Meanwhile, Huzhou University has cultivated professional and experienced teachers in International Education to provide students with high quality teaching support. At the ceremony, Mr. Zhang raised three expectations: the first one is to set personal goals and be persistent; the second is to cherish the time and be innovative; the last one is to cultivate the intrinsic virtues and characters, to integrate morality with action. Moreover, he suggested that besides targeting expertise, students should visit more places in China to experience Chinese life. Huzhou would be the cradle of their dreams.
Leaders and representatives of International College and Business College expected that International students could obey the school disciplines, make full use of the high-quality learning resources and strive to acquire expertise to become an envoy of friendship for their home countries and China.
Shana, a student representative from Kazakhstan, said she appreciated Huzhou Univeirsty welcomed all students and offered full-equipped facilities, which positively helped her overcome homesickness and be confident in acquiring expertise and accepting Chinese culture. “I’m so proud to be a member of Huzhou University. I will work hard, keep the aim of speaking Mandarin fluently in my mind, complete my studies and obtain the degree successfully,” a Uzbekistan student Nazarova Zarina said sincerely.
This second batch of international students enrolled in Huzhou University come from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Bangladesh, Mozambique and Pakistan. Most of them are 4+1 undergraduate students. Compared with the previous international students with the aim of learning Mandarin, this program integrates 1-year Mandarin education and 4-year expertise cultivation. It extends the education patterns, standardizes curriculum design and normalizes academic management, which further improves international education level of Huzhou University.
After the opening ceremony, Director of Exit-Entry Administration Bureau of Huzhou Public Security Bureau, Liu Minghua, delivered a speech to international students on Chinese laws and regulations, visa issues, security and religious matters, and answered the questions in detail. He expected international students could abide by the law, and adapt to Chinese life and studies preferably.
This successful opening ceremony symbolizes Huzhou University has made further progresses in international education, blazed Chinese characteristics and promoted Chinese evolution, in the guideline of the Belt and Road Initiative. It has important significance in promoting Huzhou University to be comprehensive, authoritative and influential in higher education.
