Professor Momei Chen and her husband from the University of California, Berkeley visit our school

Recently, professor Momei Chen, niece of the famous Huzhou calligrapher, famous international expert on agriculture and forestry science from university of California, Berkeley visited our school with her husband. President Liqin Zhang presented and welcomed and received the couple. Administration of foreign affairs, related personnel of college of life science attended the meeting.

Liqin Zhang expressed his warm welcome to the arrival of Professor Momei Chen and her husband, introducing local tradition of Huzhou and basic information on the construction of the college of life science in our school. He pointed out that Huzhou has its unique nature resources and it is the home town of Mr. Xi Liang, pioneer of China’s modern forestry and that Huzhou has great developing potential and marketing outlook.

Professor Momei Chen with her husband extended their gratitude to the warm receiving of our school and expressed their heartly joy for the development of the high schools in their home town. They said it would be an honor to share their advanced experience of life science and agriculture of Chinese and American with our school. Meanwhile, they wished HuzhouUniversity realize the dream of becoming a comprehensive university in the near future. Also, both sides talked about the history of the development of Chinese forestry, culture of agriculture and forestry in urban and rural area, new trend on development of agriculture and forestry,etc. After the meeting, the couple visited Xi Liang National Forest Park with the company of the foreign affair division head.

Mrs. Momei Chen was graduated from BeijingForestryUniversity and is now expert on forest pathology and the study of fungi in the University of California, Berkeley. She once was director of the institute of plant protection in China , secretary general of Chinese academy of forestry association forest pathology ,director of mycology of American society for plant pathology, expert of International forest quarantine biological and agricultural center, expert of North American and Chinese edible fungi. She published many books in both Chinese and English, including Forest Fungi Pathological Geography, Magic Sequoia of China and the United States, Fungi Treasures.
