Recently, the delegation fromUniversity of Quebec Canada visited ouruniversity, featuring professor Ariane Plourde, head of the Marine ScienceInstitute, professor Jean-Pierre Gagne and Xie huixiang. Formal meetingconcerning cooperation between the twouniversities was held,presentvice-president Ye Jinyun, heads of Foreign Affairs Office and International Collegeas well as College of Life Science.
Ye Jinyun gave a brief introduction to ouruniversity in recent years, including the development scale, departmentsstructure, international communication,talent cultivation and key discipline construction. He pointed out that along friendship has been carried out between University of Quebec Canada andour university. He hoped that stronger cooperativerelationship could be built on the basis of aquatic major, which can providemore benefits for the students from two universities.
Professor Ariane Plourde expressed sincere gratitude to our warmreception. She also introduced thebasic information of MarineScience Institute of University of Quebec Canada, including departments structure and others.
Discussionon major construction, international cooperation, students exchange andteachers’ training and other issues was carried in depth subsequently.
After the meeting, the delegation had a on-the-spot investigation to ourZhejiang province aquatic biological resourcesconservation and development technology research laboratory. During theinvestigation, Ye Jinyun introduced the constructioninformation and achievements of the laboratory. The delegation considered thesuccessful experience in aquatic organisms and water environment disciplineconstruction of our university are worth learning. They hoped thatcommunication and cooperation between two universities could be strengthened toachieve mutual improvements.
