13th June , theclosing ceremony of " Students Summer Camp from ?xml:namespace>Plymouth CollegeUK " was held in ouruniversity, marking the end of a 12-day Chinese language and cultural exchangeprogram. Mr. Liu Yang, Vice-president of Huzhou University and Mr. Phil Davies, Principal andChief Executive of City College Plymouth UKattended the ceremony, accompanied bythe heads of Foreign Affairs Office and InternationalCollege.
Students from UK were awarded with certificatesby Mr. Liu Yang. Mr. Yang said that this summer camp washeld during the graduation season in Chinese universities which filled with the rich flavor of graduation.He hoped these students could be cultural ambassadors of HuzhouUniversity, who would promote our university afterreturning to UK and bringmore young faces from Plymouthto Huzhou next year.?xml:namespace>
Phil Davies, Principal and Chief Executive of City College Plymouth UK, said that the summer camp will have a profound impact on students' lives, and he willfurther deepen the cooperation between the two universities.
During the summer camp, students from UK got the opportunity to learn Basic Chinese, Chinese Calligraphy, Chinese Painting,Martial Arts, Table Tennis and other language and culture courses. Togetherwith our students they also experienced the Chinese Hanfu (traditional clothes),Kendo, paper cutting and Chinese knot making, dumplings making and other community activities. Theyalso toured around Huzhou city and took trips to citiesof Shanghai, Hangzhouand others for sightseeing, which enables them to understand the colorfulnessof southern culture in China.
“It's such a different and wonderfulexperience.” Said by Carys, who came to China for the first time. “Thebeautiful scenery of Huzhou and the unique lifestyle of Chinese people werevery impressive, especially those nice student volunteers in HuzhouUniversity.They are just so great!”
Our University has established cooperation friendship withCity College Plymouth UKsince 2009, having sent 43 students to UK for oversea studies during thisfive years. City College Plymouth UK has also kept sending students to Huzhousince 2012, the summer camp this year marks the third batch of students forcultural exchange.
